What we were asked to do

Exterior renovation of an old house, under way. Work began with scaffolding in the light well and stripping the damaged render from the courtyard walls. The roof, in old clay tiles covered in lichen, is still to be washed. The intervention is deliberately restrained: simple, functional solutions rather than rebuilding everything. The photographs show the house as it was found — the mosaic corridor, the covered light well, the iron spiral staircase and the concrete exterior stairs — and the first work done.
