After — timber stair against a wall clad in natural stone

The stairwell wall was clad in natural stone, with grazing light recessed into the ceiling so the light runs across the surface and gives the texture depth.

The solid timber treads were built in one by one, with the heights set before the cladding went on so that they all came out the same.
